Deb Long Drive
Deb Long was a life-long golfer and advocate for women and girls in golf. Her passion for developing youth through the game led her to create affordable playing, mentorship and scholarship opportunities for girls throughout Southern California. We will continue her drive by enabling our SCGA members and clubs to raise funds in support of this cause.
The SCGA Junior Golf Foundation is proud to continue the legacy of the WSCGA Foundation and the passion of Deb Long through support of girls golf and college scholarships. More than 1,500 girls participate in programming annually, which includes affordable access, instruction, mentor outings and educational opportunities. In addition, the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation operates three LPGA-USGA Girls Golf chapters that enables girls to learn, practice and play all in a comfortable, safe environment led by female instructors and coaches. The SCGA Scholarship Program awards $175,000 annually to active program members to pursue higher education. In 2019, the scholarship committee chose to name a new member of its scholarship class in Deb’s memory. Deb’s dedication to supporting girls through the pursuit of the game was unparalleled and she was a mentor and role model to many. It is our goal to create an endowment fund to continue the annual naming of this scholarship and grow the number of girls who participate in our programs.
